Power outlet / battery charger.

This may seem like a complete a*se question but I take it that a "trickle charge" could be applied to the battery via the power outlet on the bike?

If so, what kind of connections do I require to hook up an Oxford charger or do I require a complete new unit to complement the power outlet socket?

My work is going to be taking me away for a month at a time to the wilds of darkest Africa. Will the battery (new in Feb) hold its power for between 4 and 5 weeks? There is an alarm on the bike which will drain a certain amount of power.

Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Leasky.

This might not be super helpful - but I have an optimate, and just ordered the adaptor to fit the power outlet on my S. However, when I plugged it in, the Optimate reckoned that the polarity was wrong, so I rewired the plug accordingly - not sure if this means that my outlet is wired up back to front :?:

Might be worth checking the polarity of your outlet before plugging anything in just in case :o
