It seems that BCRs are the buy for the moment. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh very soon.
Regards Peter.
Cheers Peter.
Like I said when we were chatting on the phone, I must have ridden (almost) every model of bike BMW make in the last week or 3 - a couple have turned me off somewhat but 2 have stuck in my mind. I returned to South London m/c this morning to have another spin on the 800S - their demo has about 1500 miles on the clock which has made a huge difference to the feel of the motor compared to the 200-mile-old bike I rode at another dealer a couple of weeks ago. SLM's bike positively flies and is just a total grin-machine. If I was 4 or 5 inches shorter I'd have bought one on the spot. It's just the tiniest of smidges too small for me, sadly.
So...I took the BCR out for an hour or so. After 5 mins I'd thought it was rough, crude, heavy and that as far as I was concerned the 1100S had had its day with me. An hour later it all began to click into place.
Only downside is these new, thinner bar grips. Having large hands means that they're very uncomfy so I'll be looking to change them asap (no heated grips on this bike so should be an easy job).
Oh..and the chrome clock surrounds lasted approx 48 miles - they're now in the bin

You still on for Ace brekkie tomorrow ?
Absolutely Mr B/P - you thinking of popping down to the Smoke?
Be good to see you if you are.
If I can get on the road early enuf for a trip down the 413 instead of the motorway. Any nasty cameras on that route south of Buckingham ? Not done it for some time.
Lloyd
It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.

Lloyd - 413's pretty much camera-free south of Buckingham although with the weather as it is I wouldn't be surprised if Bucks' finest aren't out snooping for speeding bikers. Wendover by-pass (the one which runs alongside the railway) has become a favourite spot for scameras recently though. Other than that, can't think of anything nasty.
When i think of the money i spend on bloody trick bits,i reckon i'm certifiable!! only diluted by how much Lloyd gets through, but on watching your motorcycle oddessy,i think were just tinkering!!!
Must confess that i really am starting to connect with my S now, went out last night to scrub a new tyre in,and jesus it really does whistle along, only taken 6 years and 7 grand!!!!
'I spent most of my money on motorcycles, French wine and having a good time - the rest of it I just wasted' (or something like that)
I'll check out the PC - been following the progress of guys* on the V-Rod forum who've been doing a lot of work with them, getting some pretty good horsepower & torque numbers over stock.
My BCR's motor's tight as a duck's at the moment as it's only just gone through 3k; you can imagine how rough it is.
I'm not joking when I say that little 800's a peach. Like we've said, BMW deserve to sell a shedload of them. Just wish I was 5'8"!
*Believe it or not, there are some folk who don't do bling with Harleys
3000 miles on an S god i shudder at the thought!!!
The PC is difficult to explain,it's not makeing shed loads of horspower,it's just the way it runs,as i said on the Pelican i'm just miffed at haveing to ride as it was for 6 years!!.
