...a R 1150 RT...

…we bought ourselves (out of a private ad) a fine blue/grey-isch second hand 1150 RT…

…first registered in April 2002…
…only 27.000 kilometers (16.875 miles) on the clock…
…with ABS, BMW radio, electric screen, brand-new Metzeler Z4 tires, and a battery tender…
…the bike runs very fine, the gearbox is a lot smoother than on an (my !) S, and for two-up touring it has all the comfort and space you want on a bike…(short holidays in (for example) Germany ; here we come !!)
…no scratches at all, and with a complete (how complete can it be after 27.000 km’s…?) service history…

…downside is ; I have to sell my beautiful (at least that’s what I think of it…) 80 RT, due to the limited space in my garage…

…and ‘my’ Jeannet : very happy, cause she disliked the 80 RT from day one…

…and the S ? In the garage, and (still) no reason for selling it…

…gonna pick-up the RT next Saturday, and first it needs some polishing (at least that’s what I think of it…), and the first thing that will be changed are the spark-plugs (I will go for the Brisk plugs), a different code-plug, and a thorough balancing job, to eliminate this ‘Konstant Fahr Ruckeln’ around 3.000 RPM…

Nice one Ron - good colour too. :)

Definite dark horse the RT; it is, after all, a GS underneath (albeit with shorter legs and more weight) ;)

...thanx !

...BTW Richard : did you know that this Track Rod (I posted it as a link before) has 175 (!) rear wheel horsepowers...(on the dyno it had 156 crank HP's ; and that's a lot !)

Hmmmm.

It looks like it has the standard footpegs as well - surely I'm mistaken?

...you're not mistaken ; such a HD bike is narrow enough, so need to change the position of the pegs...

Most sensible choice Ron! Would like one of these as a company-bike, instead of the Opel/Vauxhall/GM Astra GT they offered me (but which I turned down because my general dislike for driving a car).

For the next three days I'll be doin' almost 300 km a day commuting to Eindhoven to attend a training. Not really a punishment on the ole S :)

New set of tires too: Michelin Pilot Power, to early to tell yet (only covered highway stretches till now)

...just give me a call ; we can talk you into a Volkswagen/Audi, and I'm sure you will be happy with it...
