Does anyone do a workshop manual for the S?... specifically a late twin-spark?
I have looked on amazon for Clymer and Haynes and drawn a blank...
I mean I'm a competent mechanic, but I like to have one to hand for quick and easy location of components, oil volumes, torque settings etc etc.

Haynes do a manual for the S from 1999-2004 which is covered within BMW R850, 1100 & 1150 4-valve Twins, manual number 3466, priced £19:99.
Take a look at their website (
www.Haynes.co.uk ) under motorcycle manuals.
No longer a motorcycle owner.

Ah Haynes, can also be used as toilet paper.
Remember re-assembly is the reverse of dis-assembly

Get yourself one of the BMW workshop manuals on cd off flea bay for few quid - that'll have everything you need

I think that you will find that one "dismantles" the engine, then "remantles" it. (From a Japanese instruction manual - translated into English-ish)
