Paddock - ok, garage - Stands

Anyone use/used one of these hydraulic ones form Machine Mart or the similar sort of thing from Demon Tweeks or Hein Gericke?

Thinking of getting one instead of the ABBA thing. Tried BMW (Mill BMW, Sunderland) for the offical R11S workshop stand and they thought that the part they quoted me (£170) lifted it via the rear wheel!:
Q. "Erm, but don't you have a workshop? What do they use?"
A. "[We/I] Don't get involved in workshop stuff, only when we order in special tools and the like."

???

I'm thinking (doing a lot of that) that the bottom of the bike is quite flat, so strapped onto the stand it should be quite stable and adequately supported. ANyone actually know?

I was thinking about the type from machine mart but managed to pick one like Pauls up off ebay.(not cheap mind)
I think this type has probably got more stability and much better lift hight.
Works a treat no more grovelling on the floor.
If I had the room I would have gone for a workshop table type.

I have one of those bike lifts from machine mart, It's bloody marvelous, well built, easy to use, no need to strap the bike on when servicing or moving it about. will also lift small lightwieght cars up to 500 kgs,and it's less than£120.00

Well, I bought one of the Machine Mart stands and reckon it works pretty well. I do actually tie the bike down with a ratchet strap across the rear sub-frame as well for added security.

This gives a fair bit of height when lifting and should make valve clearances quite a bit easier on the old back. I'd go so far as to suggest not requiring a work table as you get lift and stability.
