Hi, looking for advice please.
Just bought an Ohlins rear after a chance encounter with a very nice man! Am I ok to fit the front only or does anyone think its a bad idea?
There is also a pair of Hyperpro shocks on ebay... any good?

Paul, the hyperpros's were Bob's (Boxerdogs) old un's, see recent posts, but i think they are std length, so probably not up to your req's, you being of green giant stature...........no offence

I don't see any probs with that setup, I don't think the front has to cope with too much anyway, specially as you keep it on the back wheel for long periods anyway, if the oop north trip was 'out to go by

It'll work better than the standard/standard set-up, several folks have gone this route if they're too tight to buy the pair (winger) Better go now before I insert foot in mouth

Typical RC30 owner!!!!!!

Ohlin rear with standard shock,will be exactly the same,it won't steer one jot different unless you alter the rear ride height ajuster or buy a verholen arm.

Put an Ohlin in the rear with a standard S(black pre2000)shock,and then you'll realise what you've been missing,trouble some people like plush!!!!!!it's not something i do in suspension terms!!!!!,not even on my Tiger.

I bought a pair of EMC shocks and installed the front one alone first, leaving the original BMW rear (20 000 miles old). The improvement was instantly noticable. Duly fitting the rear brought the geometry and handling all together. I have a sure footed bike (010S) that has never stepped out, slid, juddered no matter how nasty I have been to it. (Apologies to anyone I may have upset in Thanet on Saturday afternoon!). These shocks are now one year old, their only fault is some slight oxidising on the shell. EMC - £500 the pair. I wrote about them earlier.

Have also bought an adjustable paralever arm.
The shock is height adjustable also. All i need to do now is look for some tips on what settings to start with.

Couldnt turn the shocker down s it was cheap and nearly new, also my standard one is minginging (rust spots etc).
Will proably take it to UK suspensions to be set up, unless anyone knows a good source for set-up tips etc?

Crude bench mark,put bike on a BM paddock stand ajust till the back wheel is touching the floor,the problem being, you'll have the longer sport/boxercup what ever you want to call it front shock on,so it still won't steer as quick as it can be made to.

Steering this, steering that .... if you want a bike with quick steering buy any of the race reps. The only thing you can do with the S is make the steering marginally more responsive by jacking the back up - it's still slow by other benchmarks - even my 17 year old Honda V4. The front Ohlins will help the front track better on our potholed roads wether set to plush or firm.

The word marginal is incorrect!!,but thats understandable from someone that only ever rides one up and doesn't have to bother about such things!!,raiseing the back up transforms the bike,you should have seen Gus's face the first time he rode his S after doing it.

OOPs sorry Mr Boxerpan forgot you can't get two people on your S can you!!!!,slow speed wise,slow steering,can't get 2 people on e'r!!!!
