Moto Guzzi Stelvio

has anyone tried the Guzzi Stelvio? I'm thinking of getting rid of my 1250GS. There's nothing else that BMW are producing that tickles my fancy. I think I actually preferred the 1200 engine to the 1250 although I would have to ride them back to back. I don't think the 1250 engine is better or worse just different a bit like riding a 4 so I'm tempted to try something else. Any comments welcome

I've looking longingly at the new Stelvio Dave, but can't quite bring myself to pay the £6k or so to trade my perfectly serviceable 5 year old R1250 GS for bike with fewer gadgets and features... The idea of a lighter bike than the GS appeals tho' but I might wait a year or two and get a previously cherished Stelvio since I think they will depreciate more heavily than my GS, so the cost to change will become more palatable.

I can't agree with you on the merits of the 1200 vs. 1250 engines though. I find the 1250 in my GS pulls much stronger across the rev range than my old R1200RS.

May not be representative, but I' ve seen a few posts on warranty issues such as shaft drive oil leaks ancd corrosion of engine parts /casings. I rode the V100 and really liked it

Going to try a Stelvio today. If it has the same characteristics of my old 12GS I think I'll be buying it. The new Stelvio (or the offer I've seen) gives it a 4 year warranty. My 22 plate 1250 has some slight corrosion under the left hand cylinder. I've asked Barrie Robson's about it and they told me to get it there before the warranty runs out - appears BMW want pictures of the overall condition of the bike (it is immaculate with just over 9000 miles on it). If they think it's warranty, it seems I'll get a new engine!! Not happy about the condition with so few miles. We'll see how today goes!!

Well, I've bought a new Stelvio!! loved the ride - the conditions weren't perfect but I enjoyed the ride. It was time for a change. The bike seems so planted. The suspension was firm but it was comfortable so only time will tell

They're delivering it - I could have had it next week but I'm working so it will be in the new year. Measured the bars and it won't go in the front door. Was going to stick it in the kitchen to give me a bit of room to work on the BCR. I'm taking some of the bits off the GS to offset the low trade in value cos of those damn 1300s!

I have to say, Barrie Robson's have been a brilliant dealer for me. Hope Teasdale Motorcycles are as good. Initial impressions are favourable

Nice one Dave, New bike how exciting is that! Adventure bikes are not my thing but have ridden the V85, It was a compact little beast and in my experience if the build quality on the Stelvio is as good as the Griso I had you will not be dissapointed.

Teasdale has built a cracking business over the years and has a great customer base from all over the North East. An Independant and a survivor.

I really liked the Mandelo as well Chris. Fallen out of love with BMW - prices are getting silly and there isn't anything in their range that appeals. Build quality appears to be going downhill rapidly.
