Hi Paul, I keep getting this rather annoying error message, can anything be done to fix it?

I'm on the case with the hosting company...
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Still getting this message frequently and getting a tad annoying.

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

MySQL server has gone away [2006]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

It looks like we are under a Denial of Service attack. I just cleared out 700 new accounts on the site registered this month, with 35 of those registered today before 7:00 AM... not sure how to stop that, other than changing our security question for new account creation.
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

The site seems a lot more stable since I changed the registration validation. Is anyone still getting those "MySQL server has gone away" error messages?

You maybe have to clear your cookies?

Try using Chrome 'incognito' mode which should ignore all profile/cookies.
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....
