My R1100S reached a milestone yesterday, 100,000 miles
A 2000 bike that I've owned since May 2001.
Since then it's taken me to Europe 7 times, toured the UK and general hooning about in Scotland.
In the process its eaten it's way through:
19 rear tyres,
14 front tyres,
Probably 9000 litres of unleaded,
Had two new batterys
Now on its fourth rear shock absorber. Mind you one was replaced under warranty after failing in France at 38k. Another one (Hyperpro) failed due to me being exuberant on the rather bumpy Moffat to Selkirk road
One replacement steering damper
One replacement drive shaft at 19k (BMWs fault for making it too short and out of tolerance)
Two replacement paralever bearings
One bevel box bearing
One fork seal at 78k
Rear brake disc and five sets of pads
Replaced front discs at 85k. That's only the second set of front pads
Replaced rear brake master cylinder
Replaced leaking Oil sight glass
Replaced gearbox seal output shaft seal (it's leaking oil again)
Replaced front wheel bearings twice
Hate to tally up how much in £s all the above and servicing cost per mile. Still love the old bike and the smiles per mile

Re: 100,000 miles
Thats brilliant wicker Congrats on passing 1000,000 miles on your old girl and gold to hear you still love her
The list of parts isn't too bad at all I don't think considering the miles and great times you've no doubt had, worth every penny Mate
Here's to the next 1000,000

Re: 100,000 miles
Good show, my 12S is the same mileage and a lot of the same replaced items including the drive shaft!
The bike has done trackdays and toured Europe, taken me to work and just damn good days blatting about the countryside. Thought of replacing it but what with? Enjoy the next 100,000

Re: 100,000 miles
The S became a second bike at the end 2005 when it had 60k under its wheels. Whilst I'm still averaging about 12k per year most of thats on my GS. However I also inherited my dad's old R80RT a couple of years ago so the mileage is now getting split 3 ways. Doubt the S would make it to another 100k unless I just start riding it exclusively or keep it going for another 30 years. OF course, fossil fuelled vehicles would be consigned to museums by then even if we could still afford petrol.

Re: 100,000 miles
Almost run in then!
Is it on the original clutch? No contamination from the oil leaks?
A nice milestone to make, congratulations! I hope to do the same on mine. I will return to this thread in 2030!

Re: 100,000 miles
Good stuff!!
My 3rd Rockster reached about 130,000 before I blew the main-crank bearing while at full-chat on the A303.
If I hadn't been playing silly buggers, or had chosen to rebuild it, I'd still have it and it would probably be on 150K+ by now.
I hope you're going to keep it going!
