To the Land of the Yellowbelly and Poachers

Post by Grip Fast »

Went for a trip down memory lane around Lincolnshire (lived there from 1976 to 88 and have fond memories) on the R12S today. I'd forgotten what a pretty county Lincolnshire is, particularly along the roads between Bourne, Sleaford, Lincoln and back down to Grantham (not so taken with the fens - but Wolds are also good). Some stunning villages - Skopwick and Blankney spring to mind, but many others - Folkingham interesting. Main downside was favourite stretch of road from Ruskington to Lincoln, via Skopwick and Blankney is 50mph now.

It is two years ago today that I returned home from my trip to the Pyrenees on the R12S, and I don't remember being quite so achy at the end of the 400-mile days as I did today (about 220 miles). Too much riding the Tiger and not used to the Beemer, I hope - rather than old age catching up.

We did get a good soaking on the way home, so bike looked like it had been off-road in muddy fields when I got back home. Rats - photo too large error...
