When insurers talk about the rising cost of motorcycle insurance, they blame allsorts of factors.
Fraudulent claims, uninsured drivers, rising accident rates, etc
Everyone and everything other than their own policies towards dealing with repairs, and their eagerness to just write everything off.
I am in no doubt that if my bike sustained the damage that it did as a result of another drivers carelessness, and it was going through their insurance, it would have been declared beyond economical repair, and I would have received it's trade value as compensation, which I estimate to be about £1,500.
The total cost for me to have the bike repaired to a high standard is going to be less than £500.
The insurance company would therefore be paying out a grand more than they needed too if I was claiming, and then they blame everyone but themselves for the rising costs of insurance.

Cars get repaired after major crashes, so why are insurance companies so reluctant carry out straightforward repairs to bikes.
