Recently a lot of posts have focussed on an individual. The forum is wider, more diverse and friendlier than that.

The latest incarnation of a "sports" boxer is the R9T Racer. I'm buzzing that we're putting one on demonstrator next week and cannot wait to sling a leg over it

I'm even hoping to "steal" it for the Welsh Weekend

I had sit on the Sport last week. Nice but I'm not into the pared down look inside the fairing . Each to their own. What is remarkable is the models that BMW are getting out there based on the air-cooled boxer engine. I really do admire their ingenuity. The R&D costs are well and truly distributed across a wide base. The marque looks pretty healthy to me.

I think the S100RR must be due a considerable re-fresh very soon as the new GSX-R seems to have move the game on with variable valve timing .

Only one model, with several variants.
I love the R NINE T, but there is nothing remarkable about it.
It's pretty much a parts bin, with an old engine.
I've heard some argue that BMW are using the bike to deplete left over stocks of the hex head engine, and that it'll eventually be replaced with the new one, which is much better IMHO.
BMW will of course tell you that it's because the air cooled engine is more faithful to the retro theme.
Hmmmm.
Anyway, production / tooling costs must be minimal.
Just my opinion, so hopefully I won't get shot down with personal abuse.
I am actually seriously considering buying a Racer.
I think it's the best looking bike of it's type out there, and looks are everything in this category.
The Thruxton with Racer kit used to be my fave, but the Beemer has completely eclipsed it for me.
AND, it's a few grand cheaper than the Triumph
Mind you, the Guzzi Racer is a bit special

Best to say up front, I'm very unlikely to be buying one, so please don't put me ahead of actual money spending punters, but I am intrigued by this model, could also be tempted by a spin on an R1200R if there's one available.

The R1200R we have is a sport and is a service loan bike rather than a sales demonstrator but I can check if that's available

I absolutely love this 9T incarnation, those pipes are THE best I've seen for this model and I'm tempted, but it would have to have this seat unit which isn't commercially available, I've spoken to Zard who actually made it for this bike but with no plans to make/sell it doh.
I've checked the piggy bank and I just about have enough money for the clutch lever, gonna see how much I can save before Criccieth

I liked BMW when they ploughed their own furrow, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Some of the latest bikes strike me as being a reaction to the market, rather than proactively trying to make their own markets. I guess that's business in the modern world.

I would have like to see what could have been ultimately developed with telelever and duolever for example, but these appear destined for extinction as the bikes become more conventional.

Whilst the F, S and R9T series have traditional forks I think there would be a negative effect on sales if they took the telelever from the GS/RT range Jim. A lot of repeat customers are wary of the traditional forks now on the RS and R boxers. As the RT & GS range are such huge sellers I'd be surprised if they changed that unless something new came about which was hugely better.

My feeling for the next big GS thing will be and electric driven front wheel to give two wheel drive

That's the kind of thing I want to see BMW developing. I know 2WD systems have been experimented with for a while. Be good if BMW can take it mainstream.

I saw a 2WD chain drive system on a crosser once. Fantastically 'Heath Robinson'.
