So Brian is retiring from his radio2 sat morning slot, 8am-10am. Sounds of the sixties, We love this programme, I hope it is to continue and the new presenter has the mellow velvet tones of Mr Mathews and his vast knowledge of the artists concerned.
I first saw him on the Thank your lucky Stars show. He is 88 years of age. I wish him well.
Sat mornings will now be different.

I read the other week that he'd been elbowed out while he was ill - tremendous shame, I loved his Saturday morning programme.....weekends won't be the same without him.

I think it's Tim Rice that has taken over. Elbowed out sounds about right - Janice Long and Alex Lester's show have been axed, replaced by repeats and playlists. Loved Alex Lester's show when I was working nights - he's a complete loon in a lovely way

I believe that Brian's place is going to be occupied by that young whipper snapper Mr Tony Blackburn!
New time for the Sounds of the Sixties is going to be .........................6.00 to 8.00 a.m.!!

Tim Rice must have just been filling in - I wont listen to any show with Blackburn - loves his own voice and constantly talks over intros - cannot stand the man

Well, I recorded Tony Blackburn's Sounds of the 60s and started listening to it this morning. I gave it 15 minutes then turned it off. Bloody hell, Tony Blackburn is really,
really annoying - inane comments, unfunny 'jokes', and a very irritating voice indeed.

Come back Brian!

Even come back Tim Rice, as long as it is 8.00 till 10.00 and not hidden away at a time when most people are still in bed on a Saturday.
