New to BMW with a "new" 16 year old R1100S.

Post by Fluidity »

Hi there.

I've just bought a 2001 R1100s in grey. My first ownership of a BM but loved the R90s I tested in the IoM back in the last century. It was probably 1978 as I recall Mr Hailwood's comeback win. My previous bike was sold 3 years ago - a 1974 850 Commando Mk2a, which I had for 10 years or so. I'm based near Loughborough, and will probably just read a lot on here for the time being. Cheers.

Steve.

Thanks for the welcome notes f90x; Herb and Boxermed69.

Herb, I see you are in Lutterworth. I grew up in Dunton Bassett, and went to Lutterworth Grammar (as it was then) from 1966 to 1973. I've 'vague' memories of the Fox Inn bike nights on Fridays.

I am from Gosport originally, been here in or near Lutterworth for 11 years.

My son went to what was Lutterworth Grammar, now Lutterworth College. He left 3 years ago. I imagine it's changed quite a bit since you went. The Fox is still there, but we would only go there for the Thai restaurant upstairs. My local is the Red Arrow.

Welcome , Now that is a bike that I've always admired although never actually ridden.
