Hi all my be buying my first r1100s, THIS will not be my first bm it will be my 6th. At the moment I have a 800s which I am struggling with power wise and with the bars due to a old elbow injury. Before you say the 1100 has clipons as well the one I've seen has had the handle bar conversion done. I sold a 1150r to get the 800 as I thought it would be smaller and lighter which it is but I miss the boxer engine and the shaft. The one I have seen is a 2000 model with 30000 On it and looks clean for the age the only bit that looks rough are the forks which I know are a weak point due to my brothers rockster. I have a good idea of what to look for just wanted to know if there are any major things to check.

Welcome Carl. good luck with your search. Can't think of any major "gotcha's" to be wary of when you are looking at a previously cherished R1100S, other than all of the usual stuff you'd look at on a bike of that age.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
