The K1000 started out £2000 dearer and was then reduced by £1000 - now by another £1000. It is very tempting at this money.

So when is this 'Old enough to know better' supposed to kick in?

Personally, I'd steer well clear unless I had an a comprehensive warranty for at least a year.
30+ years is a long time for a machine to sit idle.
Seals dried out and hardened.
Could be a ticking time bomb as soon as it's started.
Having said that, here is a heart warming video of a Guzzi being re commissioned after nearly 40 years in storage.

Defo, doubt that a prospective buyer would run it anyway, why would you? shxte compared with modern bikes. A collectable no doubt. Dry seals or not.

A friend in France is still trying to sell an '07 GSA with zero miles - no takers. I suppose you'd need a really big hallway to keep it in.... :)

I used to run a K100RS from a similar era.
Had as much enjoyment out of that as I have any modern bike.
I contest this notion that just because it's old, it's not as enjoyable to ride.

Having had 5 K100RS's from 1985 to 2007 I can honestly say I enjoyed every moment on them and would happily have another

Yep in their day they were good comparatively speaking, as a "gilt edged investment" why would you ride it now? come to think of it if it was a gilt edged investment why would you be selling it
