Not being disrespectful to the law but it seems to nowadays be powerless against the tide of scumbags.

Can't we just execute them :)

Yes you can. What happens afterwards is up to the law.

Gotta be vigilante folks, fraid the resources are stretched, bike crime is up 40pc in London area. Glad I live where I do. Sorry my insurance premiums are paying for this. This would have made me angry a few years ago it does not anymore. I am not surprised. I hope citizens arrests were made though.

The problem is that the Police and Government will not do anything to curb the problem, and here's why I think this is so.
I believe they have it within there power to virtually eliminate this type of crime.
The problem is that the criminals won't just pack it in.
They'll just move into another lucrative area, so essentially crime isn't eradicated, it's just displaced,
Whilst vehicle theft can be heartbraking, it's very rarely life threatening, and the only major cost is money, which can easily be recovered by the insurers, by adding a negligible amount to our annual premiums.
I thinks it's on average £35 per policy, which collectively is a huge amount, but would that make you throw up your arms, give up, sell the vehicles and take the bus ?
No of course not.
We just put up with it so why should the Government do anything.
The economy isn't affected, and the only financial losers are you and I
Displacing the crime into more unpredictable area's, could have far more of an impact on society and the economy, so leaving things as they are, is for the powers that be, the safest option.
The lesser of two evils.

It's just my theory.

Reading on a lot of bike forums this is what happens to a lot of our stolen loved ones.

It's interesting.
I was trying to hold back on saying this, but the fact is that the recent boom in London bike theft coincides with the influx of Eastern European migrants.

Fontana,

Please try a little harder to hold back on this particular topic on here in future. I'm happy to have you "vigorously debate" your views with others on most topics, but please do not use this forum for discussion of your uncharitable views on migrants.

Thank you

Paul

Oh really

Perhaps then we should also hold back on the use of the uncharitable words "scumbag" and "executions" in reference to people who may not be able to get jobs, and have no other way of making a living other than resorting to crime.

Fontana, why not retort with some evidence to back up your 'Eastern European migrants = bike theft boom' supposition? I know you're a big fan of 'evidence'. Just saying.....

Another reason the government is not too worried about crime involving theft , is that its a very lucrative boost for the govt coffers ...

Just think of all the extra VAT they will get because of the victims having to replace the stolen goods ...

Fontana, please take it with good grace when the Administrator or a Moderator politely asks you to "hold back" ... not everything is a fight :D

I always thought that rechargeable grinders should be banned. They make breaking in far too easy. Or bike theft.

Not entirely sure that "holding back" is the best policy when faced with an overwhelming surge of outlaws, I hope that term is not politically incorrect, just as some do gooder, champion for cause can without fear of contradiction label some one as a Fascist or Racist. This weirds me out, I for one would not ride round or park up my pride and joy in any Metropolis but those guys who nicked that bike may well have been illegals. We would be stupid to have a politically correct mindset on this. :?
