I have just fitted a new Goodridge rear brake line to my BCR. Problem is that I cannot bleed it. The fluid comes all the way down to the caliper but when I try to bleed it through the caliper nipple I get faint splutters but not surges of fluid. Any thoughts chaps?

I am assuming you are bleeding by pumping the brake pedal?

If you can get hold of a vacuum pump, you can suck / pull the fluid through.

Try pumping through with the nipple removed to check its not blocked, better doing this with caliper off to protect paint, some calipers have a bleed nipple with a ball in them for use with bmw workshop kit, I had one on the front of my bike, if yours is the same its better to change it or you could try using a large syringe and a piece of hose if you can get one and squeeze fluid in via the bleed nipple.

You can use a pipe clamp on braided hose just as you can on rubber hose. Just don't pinch it any more than you need to shut it off. Press the lever, clamp the hose up near the master cylinder, release lever, release clamp and repeat until you get oil flowing at the caliper, should only take a few pumps. I've done it many many times.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I managed to cure the problem by pulling the pistons out to their limit, connecting the brake bleed kit and then pushing the pistons in. This flushed out the air and drew in the fluid. Took 3 goes but eventually did it.

Op is sorted now but I'm not sure if I'd clamp a braided hose
