I happened to mention a potential life changing health issue I'm dealing with .... and I have been touched by the messages of goodwill and even phone calls concerned about my longevity !
ALL of the enquirers immediately sprung to the conclusion it's the big "C" ........... mercifully NOT, but never the less, still potentially life changing.
It's related to an ongoing Kidney problem - gradual degeneration of function [ CKD ] that has been arrested twice in the last 6 years.
Then at Christmas while undergoing my annual check up, the blood tests revealed that the decline had started up again.
Without boring you all - there's 5 stages before dialysis is required, and I'm at stage 3.
BIG test coming up next week that will reveal if the current meds are having the right effect. They already took an armful of blood [ apologies to Hancox half Hour ] in readiness for the main assessment ............... we'll see.

AND THE WINNER IS ....................................... TJ
Guess that group hug, Prayers, and sacrificial offerings worked.
Not out of the woods - but certainly in the clearing [ just saw Red Riding Hood ]. New meds have taken effect and halted the decline [ for now anyway ] and apart from another load of daily meds and a resonable diet, etc. just down to every 6 month assessments for the forseeable.
Effectively NO further decline in function since Christmas. No guarantees of course, but looking positive after the uncertainty of the past 6 months.
Prognosis is good - while I was at the hospital awaiting the assessment, I spoke to 2 others there in the same situation - but 12 months and 18 months down the road from me. Both had remained stable for that period since their initial assessments.
Side effects [ condition and meds ] is in the main an irritant rather than a problem ........... a few years left in the old fart yet.
I sincerely thank you one and all for your pms, phone calls, kind thoughts words and good wishes.

Thanx all.
I had no intention of airing out my health issues on the forum, but needed to put the story straight for those who were concerned.
Chris - yes, I was already "downsizing" since I learned that the condition had returned [ over 6 years since the original diagnosis ] and was in fact getting worse.
I started the clearout last year - I have over 1000 auto and bike related books in my personal library and we'd already determined that my Wife would not have a clue as to there value after I'd gone. That didn't even begin to scratch the 50 odd years of automotive stuff I'd accumulated.
In the darkest moments during the past 6 months I sold my 1960s Cafe Racer project [ Yamaha TR1 ] and got rid of many of the "have to keep that" items.
Just leaves the Kay 100 Streetfighter and loads of parts [ including SIX frames ], but I will carry on with the Kawasaki KZ750 [ twin ] Flat Tracker.
I'm still involved with my pal AC with the various Oilhead projects - but they're his problem to pass on !
Again, a final thanx to all those who expressed an interest, much appreciated.
