My winter project: "Not quite a BCR"

As it says; what you've done to your bike and how it helped make it better.

My winter project: "Not quite a BCR"

Post by Henners »

Well, some of you may remember me looking for a BCR last summer and ending up buying a yellow/silver 2001 1100S in need of TLC last September.

My project to renovate and improve is underway and hopefully I'll be able to post photos of the current issues and progress made over the next week.

Watch this space as they say!

Hi. No need to polish those exhausts. I'll swap you a descent polished set for the ones you have.

The photos lie Mitch, loads of alloy oxidation, rusty fasteners and accumulated road filth and tarnish. She's going to look a lot better soon

If you're going for the RWB BCR look (which I assume you are if you got Boxerscot's panels) then make sure you get the right carbon head covers as you have a single spark bike and the RWB BCRs are twin spark.

I won't be looking to copy the BCR exactly for that and other reasons (I don't personally like the coloured wheels so mine will be remaining silver) hence the title "Not quite a BCR" But apart from those two main items it'll be pretty much on the money hopefully :)

Don't blame you, you'll save a packet if you don't bother with the carbon bits and a spare set of wheels (especially if you want the wider one).

If you're going to add a bellypan I can highly recommend the Ricambi Weiss ones, just wait for them to reduce the price like they regularly do on eBay. I think I got mine for £30 and it's pretty much identical in shape to the original BCR one.

Thanks for the advice :) I ordered one of those and it's waiting to be painted, in fact ordered the sticker kit today and just need to make the bracket and source the rear fittings. Mine was £35 I think. I love the look of the BCR but couldn't find one when I was looking ~ will probably enjoy owning this bike as much because of the time I'm enjoying working on it.

That's going to be good when it's done

What exhaust is that? Looks to have a large collector box before the pipes to the cans.
