Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying a set of Rapid Dog bar backs. I've read lots of comments about how impressed some of you are with the higher bar position, less pain etc, but could someone give me some info on the quality and durability of these bar backs.

Does anyone have a 2nd hand set that they would consider selling.

Hello and welcome, have you tried putting the bars above the top yoke? although this doesn`t move the bars back towards as much just the difference in the height might be enough, you may have to get new brake lines, about 50mm longer I think,

Thanks for your suggestion but I already have the 'comfort bars' fitted, they were on the bike when I got it, along with a peg lowering kit, but I think I would benefit from just the little more up and back that the RD bar backs would provide.
I removed the R/H bar and used a makeshift clamp set-up to hold the bar in roughly the same position as the bar backs would, allowing me to have a comparison between the 2 positions of the R/H and L/H bars, and was quite surprised by how much difference a relatively small alteration could make.
I suffer wrist pain while riding and just realised that neck pain, a day or two after a ride, is probably due to the riding position also. I didn't suffer any wrist or neck pain in the years gone by but I'm not getting any younger.

With the exception of the riding position; I love everything else about this bike, so have no intention of changing it, and the RD bar backs would not be a radical change to the bike's appearance.

I'm mainly looking for some independent info on the bar backs themselves. As I mentioned before; the quality, durability and I forgot to add reliability.

The 'release of liability clause', on Rapid Dog's order page, is a slight concern and made me wonder about the reason behind it. The clause may simply be due to fitting being carried out by incompetent individuals, so I thought it would be wise to get some feedback from members who use them or have used them in the past.

I've used them for a number of years with no problems. The quality is excellent in my opinion. I guess , just torque them correctly and you should be fine.
I'd imagine the clause is directed at the possibly more litigious American audience?

+1 I had mine on for a few years before I sold the bike with no problems at all. Torqued up properly they are not going to move and my MOT man never had a problem with them.
