last year they charged me £82 for fully comp protected. This year they want £177 fully comp protected. I have had no claims or convictions so questioned the quote. Not up to us they said it's all down to the underwriters, we will get our team to re look and get back to you. Shove it says I, I can get the same cover with a reputable company online for £75. They got back to me with a quote for £85....... Go multiply says I.

Same thing happens with me every year with CN. Always quote far higher than you're expecting, then somehow manage to loose a huge chunk when you tell them you'll go elsewhere!

Tried to get an on-line quote from Bennetts but when I got to the end it refused to give me a quote and asked me call them to discuss an issue? Duly called called them and was told I would need to be put through the Referals for some reason. After 10 minutes on hold I gave up. Their loss.

Renewal from Aunty Carol appears to be taking the pi55 at £462 for both bikes so need to look elsewhere for a quote to beat them down with.

CN

CN had sent my renewal notice to the home address and I hadn't seen it. First thing I knew was when the payment appeared on my credit card account.

Before I phoned them up to moan I saw that this year was thirty pounds cheaper than last year ..... so said nowt.

Carole Nash quoted cheaper than I paid when I bought the 1200 - I opted to renew on the day I bought it and when I phoned it was dearer. I queried it but needed insurance and paid it. they said they would get back to me and never did so called them. They said they would listen to the phone conversation I'd had previously but still insisted the price I had paid was correct. I've never questioned my insurance with Aunty Carole as I always felt I got a good deal but I will be this time. If it isn't what I think is a good quote I'll be leaving them

That happened to me for 10 years with CN, they always dropped after a quick internet comparison and a phone call, until about 3 years ago. I told them they were £100 more expensive than MCE and I was told 'better go with MCE then'. So I did, and still am.

MCE have never changed the price at renewal, in fact as a reward for renewal, for the past 2 years I have had 15 months cover at the same price.

They're all as bad imo, but try mce for a multi bike job. You never know. With a decent length of no claims, it shouldn't be too bad. I keep flitting around, not because I want to, but because of the reasons given. Swines!

CN charged me £40 to change my address. Then they wanted an extra £38 to change the BCR (sold) over to my 1952 AJS 500. The operative told me I had made a mistake with the make because he couldn't find the AJS on the system...!! I said just delete the BCR and I was due a £15 refund. But they kept that as an admin charge. After many years as a decent customer, no more CN for me.

Just done my car insurance with CN. Been advertising it via MCN. They G'teed to beat the car renewal for Bikers. They did by £10 so I stayed silent and they went away and had a conflab. Result was: Renewal Quote from LV was £267 last years premium was £233 this year with CN £240 (but a big reduction in Excess from £350 to £100) so all round a good result and they did beat the renewal as promised in the advert.
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity

Carole Nash - not impressed!

Found out that they hadn't added the mods to my R-1 a couple of years ago, and nothing in their process - gives any indication that they have screwed up. I've been in "discussions" with them for 2 months now (but gained 2 months of free insurance while they sort it out) - and they still send out wrong details, even though I've highlighted their mistakes (some fairly fundamental).

"Carole Nash - The care it deserves" .............. that's funneee! :D

It is a well accepted in business circles that the insurance business is perverse in that it does not reward loyalty, in fact the complete opposite. With most businesses the longer you are with them the better the price - but not insurance as shown by the CMN campaign of 'guaranteed to beat your quote'.
trouble is most of the problems are in the small print, larger excess, no modifications covered etc etc and people do not have the time or inclination to read the small print ( except BlackAl!).

The perils of changing each year are that you are likely to miss a small but vital detail and end up losing out when you need the cover.

I did ring CN for a multi bike quote thus year - they wanted £600 compared to Bennetts £140 - but the operator insisted he had the correct details to quote ( obviously not with that difference)

All ways up insurance is a necessary evil and it is annoying that it its just such a bunfight every year.....

Insurance

Post by Taz »

We have 3 cars on our drive, mine, my wife's and mur daughters. All are insured through Aviva who did the usual trick of ramping up the renewal quote.

So after a telephone call to say that I would take the business elsewhere they reduced the premium by 30%. Then, when I said that I have a few shares in Aviva they dropped it by a further £25, and fnally when I said that my company health insurance policy is with Aviva they dropped it a further £25 !

So just keep pushing.
