Hi all,

Thinking of doing a valve clearance check and adjustment and just wondering if there are any how-to guides, as I've not done it before on my bike. It's a '53 plate with the magnesium covers. Just wondering if there are any tips or things I need to look out for.

Thanks,

Nik

Meant to ask, sorry for rather basic question, but I assume these are screw and lock nut? Mine's an 1100S.

Thanks,

Nik

Great! So much easier not having to mess about with shims!

Was thinking I may just use my old tried and trusted "chop stick in the spark plug hole" to gauge TDC - seems like the inspection window could be tricky to find...

That's what I - do put it in gear plugs out and turn the back wheel and watch the valves. Simples.

Is yours a dual spark? Sorry for sounding thick (but I'm so good at it!), but I assume only the horizontal plug needs to come out?

Thanks,

Nik

Yessum - mines a twin spark and if you are just doing valve clearance only the horizontal plug needs to come out as long as you have no compression the engine will turn over easily.
