Sorry to start a really boring thread, but I do need to decide on what to fit?
Don't think that there has been a tyre thread for a while now.
I'm thinking Michelin Pilot 4's , anybody tried them on r11s ?
Any other ideas ?

Can't speak for the 11 but PR4 are an exceptional tyre imho, excellent in the wet, fantastic wear rate over 11k for the front and 7k for the rear ( all solo riding) and once fitted to my 12s they transformed it.

How the fcuk do you guys get the miles you do out of tyres?
No matter what I fit I can not get more than about 3 to 3.5k on a front and 2 to 2.5k on a rear.

I got that sort of mileage out of metzeler M5's (horrible) but regularly get about the same as Phil out of Michelin PR3's on a12S

Depends on how YOU ride, your bike, tyre choice, carry a pillion? All bikes will wear out there tyres at different rates, in the early 90's I was running cut slicks on my ZXR and can remember getting under 500 miles out of a front, I'm glad those days are gone if only for the hassle of a new set after a weekends thrashing lol.
My riding is now mostly long rides, touring holidays, often with full luggage so generally smooth riding and all solo as my wife rides her own bike, the exception is the occasional Trixter weekend and a little spirited throttle usage, but I would be very dissapointed not to get this mileage from today's sports/touring rubber.
I'm also quite fastidious about tyre pressure, I like to run 36 42 front rear, and the 12s seems to respond well to this.
Have you tried PR4's ? They are good

I got 1800 miles out of the rear Metzeler M1 back when I first got the bike (and it was totally shot) and only 3000 on the M3 rear that replaced it. I now run Dunlop Roadsmart and they are awesome. 6000 from the rear, 9000 from the front.

The handling was a revelation when I changed to these, especially in the wet.

To be honest, most branded modern tyres are going to be very good, though personally I lost confidence in Metzeler after a few slides in the wet and would not go back to that brand as things stand.

Well I ride an R1100S which I have had from new.
Can't remember the last time I had a pillion on, as GF has her own bike.
Sure I can tramp on, like we all can from time to time, but most of my riding is touring and I have a licence to protect.
I have tried many different tyres and brands over the years and settled on Bridgestones. BT 023R at the moment and the rear has 2200 miles on it and is flattened right off. And no I don't weigh 25 stone, I'm 13 and a half in my gear.

I'm definitely leaning towards PR4's.
Can't find many up to date tyre reviews tho' , anyone know of any of the mags that have done a back to back test of Sport Tour tyres recently ?

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Pilot Road series - to be honest.

They'll even do trackdays on the R1100s/R1200s.

How much research is really justified? I mean - they are probably the most popular and successful of sports/touring tyres - Ever.

Same weight as me then, mate runs Bridgestone sport touring tyres and he gets the same mileage as you, time for a change maybe

Spoke to Johnny 5 at last years Yorkshire weekend and he was saying the new Bridgestone T30 was exceeding expectations of grip and life.

Was wondering though if the standard suspension was giving the tyres a harder time than Ohlins or another aftermarket upgrade would?

took 21s off and put metzelers on , new 7s i think cant remember , ill check , but waiting for the weather to change , best tyres for this run of weather is hanook , on my allroad ,,, hurry up summer.
