Done.

It seems that every road I want to travel on at the minute is closed for repairs but the liklihood is that they will do the minimum required in most cases.

Our roads are in a shocking state. Thanks Steve for making us aware of this petition.

Our infrastructure is poor, no doubt, but what is your choice in our liberal minded society? NHS? Benefits? Welfare? Legal Aid? Syndrome Seekers? Devolved Powers? More Politicians? OR nice smooth tarmac instead?

Know what I want

Continue to be glad living here in Suisse. Road surface is generally great. They take time mind you for the repairs one mountain pass iwent to this year does not seem to have progressed that much from last :P However they do 'it' correctly....strip all surface off, right down to hardcore, compact, add where required, leave to stand & compact again. Then build up to the surface level. The biggie here though as I think I havve mentioned in a previous post is that the 'chippings' in the final top layer are far smaller than in UK so less liable to 'clump up' and come out in chunks and they also seal the edge of the roads to prevent water ingress and hence frost damage. Considering 'we' invented modern road construction 'we' have fallen far behind in current implementation practice...... and don't talk to me about home insulation !! :(

They can afford it, lots of interest from Nazi Plunder that they will not repatriate. It is wishful thinking for smooth roads in GB. They aint gonna do it, they can not afford it, they want private investment to foot the bill for any major work, so smooth roads = tolls. super fast rail journeys = higher fares, modern energy plant= higher fuel bills... aye? so get yer loft filled up tae the rafters with bloody awful itchy stuff!
