I have just returned from a little mini (3500 mile, mostly wet!!)trip in the motorhome to Split and back via France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria and Slovenia and cannot believe how biker friendly Slovenia is, 10-15% off room rates etc and if you are unfortunate enough

to ride a Harley lots of places will give you your first beer free!! Had a bit of a turn in Italy, petrol is 1.85 euro`s a litre

and diesel 1.7 euro`s, ouch! Slovenia is 1.40 & 1.20 euros, roads not too bad either.

Yep, true, but most rooms smell of tobacco, not that you will have noticed this

drivers are mad bxstards and lethal to bikers, not that it will have bothered you

but generally nice wee country to visit.

Can`t comment on the rooms but did not notice driving was any worse in Slovenia than anywhere else exept Belgium maybe, especially on motorways.

€1.70 for diesel? Ouch. I'm in Italy later this week, may have to fill up in Split!

For me - the prices in France don't seem far adrift from the UK, and even if they are higher - so what?
I think people in the UK have come to expect holidays to provide everything cheaper than at home - a legacy of the package holidays to lesser economy countries.
I go to enjoy myself, and don't care about the prices. I also don't want to go on hols with anyone who counts every penny.............

I've just got back from a short trip to Vosges in France. I had to cut short but my mates said its the cheapest trip they have done. It's hard to spend money when everything closes at 7pm.

Well I and 4 other mates nipped down to spain a couple of weeks ago. I had to leave a week later but the roads are pretty good there however, dont park your bike on a massive wide pavement outside the hotel in Tafiella. 5 bikes chained by police, 100 euro each to be released!
not so bike friendly Spain.

It's pretty variable. Drove back yesterday and the highest price I saw for diesel was 1.68 (lowest 1.53 near Firenze) and petrol around 1.75. Autostradas were relatively cheap in comparison to Chianti where everyone is out to make a buck.
