Ha, I seem to recollect that I filled up my Nissan 4x4 with petrol and I mean filled it up, so I decanted it all (default mode for yorkshireman) and filled up our lasses petrol car (5cyl 20 valve vag job).... errr not good either
Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)
started out with nothing, still have most of it left.
not mine though, my bosses, he just wanted me to run some errands in it, well it would be rude to refuse. Given I've not driven a car in over 12 months it was a bit nerve wracking at first

When I put petrol in my Diesel Merc, I was tired it was late, dark and the pump pipe was black (which since I usually used Shell I thought meant it diesel), no excuses really!
Filled it full of petrol and managed to drive for 5 miles with it steadily getting rougher......
When Merc came to pick it up (great service) they asked if I had put petrol in and I was so sure I hadn't, I showed him my receipt at which point I was speechless......
Merc quoted £5000 to fix so I went elsewhere and it was cleaned out with a new pump, I think, for a fraction of this, but still an expensive mistake.
Ran lovely afterwards and I have been ever vigilant since.
Aint it great being human.....
To the next time..........

Pulled up at the local station in my brand new VW diesel. Put the nozzle in the hole and clicking away on the trigger...nothing Clicked the trigger a few more times before the garage attendant finally appeared from around the corner of the kiosk (obviously been having a fag or something as it was early so very quiet).
At the same time as he walked into the kiosk to switch on the pump I looked down at the filler to see a bright green handle in my hand
Thank heavens for smokers that is all I can say. If he had been at the counter when I pulled up I would have had a tank full of unleaded!!
Lucky escape and have been very vigilant since then.
I did it years ago in a Mk3 Spitfire about half a mile away from where I lived. I had a nagging feeling as I got back in the car and realised in about a nanosecond what I'd done. Got out, disconnected the fuel lines from the carbs and managed to get home on just the petrol that was still remaining. Lucky as I'd just had the engine rebuilt too!

Now that is a car!! I have a (very rich) mate who bought a white two door new in about 1988 and still has the car........with 18,000 miles on it! Must be worth a fortune, but I don't think he would ever sell it

Bike cut on A30, after an overnight stop in Exeter I was relayed to Ocean BMW in Plymouth where the bike was de-fuelled then refuelled checked over and sent on my way for £37:00. It could have been worse.
