Hello

Post by chrisevans »

Hi,

I've taken delivery of my new bike a rather nice r1200s. I've changed from a new GSXR750 to this as it was a completed pain in the shoulder bum and left hand on any distance over 60miles and as I'm off to the ring this summer I thought it was probably best to go for a change. I've had a BMW rockster before which was the 80th anniversary edition so the colours were ok.

The bike came from a dealers with two previous owners having only covered 11,000 miles from new. Although clean, it had never been given a proper clean so once it was home i gave it a bit of tlc.

Snow Foam is the best way to get the worst off without scratching the paint

The headers were a bit discoloured but with a bit of special white fluid they came up a treat

And this is the stuff

After a couple of hours here it is all nice and shiny

I've two other bikes in the garage they are a mint 99.9% 1993 CBR600 with 10,000 miles from new and a project UK VFR400 NC30 with has 2000 miles on the clock. It went down the road when fairly new and had sat in various garages for the rest of its life. I'll try and get some pics up later if there is any interest in some japanese metal

Cheers

Thanks guys, the anti blau is the best thing to bring the headers up that I've seen.

You're clearly a man that likes his toys. The 400 is coming along nicely!

I agree with Grommit. Your GSD is a handsome dog.

The dog is half husky but to look at him its quite hard to see, he doesn't have the slopping back of a GSD and when he starts messing around his tail curls all the way onto his back

The VFR has taken quite some time to get to that stage, loads of bits were missing the new plastics have come from China, they only cost me £150 which was a bargain but they've been a complete pain to get to that stage. I'm going to have to have to make a plate to pull the RHS fairing to the nose cone then I'll MOT it and see if I like it. If I do like it I'll take the engine out of the frame and get it repaired, its straight just a couple of dents where the handle bar has hit the frame and then try and get some original plastics and get them painted up so they will fit propertly

Would those be the fairing kits from Neverland? I saw a complete set from China for an 800 vfr for £299 - I then noticed a set for sale on the bay saying they were from China and didn't line up correctly

Hi Dave the plastics came from "needformotos" I gave them a cheeky best offer and they took it, when it came the "v" section wasn't as pictured so i complained and got a part refund, it pays to complain if your not going to use them again :D
