I remember Car and Car Conversions used to have a project where they had a car and a budget of £1000 and had to see what they could do with it - they had a Skoda hatchback and ripped all the headlining etc out, stuck a couple of scaffy pipes up the sills (oo er missus!!) got some competition bits - at the time Skoda were winning everything rallying and were flashing some BM to pull over on the M11! Don't ya just love nutters like that!!

There was a test done by one of the car magazines a few years ago it was a twin engined Golf versus a Standard GSXR1000. Best of three runs over 1/4 mile. The GSX won and did all the runs on the back wheel only. The Golf was left hissing steam and boiling the guy on the Gixxer rode the bike home.

and that's the reality of tuning, pour tons of money into a car project and still have something that's not as all round good as a standard sports bike :)

Few car drivers realise the incredibly acceleration that a full on sports bike can do straight out the crate.
