I think it about time for a new lid. I want a 'quiet' one but am also considering trying one with an internal extra sun visor. Any opinions/experience with this sort? There are a lot of tunnels over here! fed up with phaphing about

I like my Schuberth C3, for me it's very quiet, I've stopped wearing ear plugs which I have done for over 25 years, the sun visor works great and also the pinlock demister, being able to raise the front is for me the perfect lid solution for every type of riding.
My only problem seems to be that in slow moving traffic in very heavy the rain I sometimes get a drip of water down the inside of the visor

It could be that I've opened it at some point and its not reseated but I'm not sure, but in saying that it doesn't happen very often as the bike never leaves the garage unless I have a booked/planned trip

I've always found AGV lids to be good, especially as I don't want to spend £400+ on a lid.
currently using an AGV Stealth SV which is fairly light and quiet(with the sound reduction kit installed - comes with the helmet), and you can pick them up for sub £200.
The main visor needs a pinlock in bad weather, but the sun visor is really good for sunny winter mornings.
they also come with several mouldings that are inserted near the visor fixing, that control the 'steps' of the visor. I think its a really nice touch.

I just bought a shark evo flip up.
Quietest lid I ever had.

This is like the tyre debate - I have a Schuberth C3 as a get to work lid and find it really noisy and have to wear ear plugs, AGVs just don't fit my head but the Shoei XR1100 I bought fits well and is quiet. I do like the idea of a flip lid for work but unfortunately the C3 isn't really for me so looks like the next one will be another Shoei

It's all to do with fit. I've ended up with a Shoei Syncrotec - used to have a Caberg, but they are shockingly badly built and go 'baggy' too quickly.
I tried the Sharks, but the chin bar was pressing against my chin.
Seems that flips are more fit sensitive than full face lids.

I found that with the evo 2, but the evo 3 is much better.
Unlike most flip ups, it's legal to use as an open face, and is tested and approved as both open and full face.
I'm really impressed with the quality and fit, and the fact it is (for me anyway), so quiet is an added bonus.

I recall it's the other way around.
Most flips are tested as open face lids, so don't guarantee protection from the chin bar.

It's six of one, half a dozen of the other.
For example, the Caberg Trip flip up, is tested and approved only in full face configuration, making it technically illegal to ride with it open.
The old Boxer roof lids, were only approved as open face.
The shark is fully certified to wear in both configurations as it has been tested and approved as both open and full face.
•"Auto-up" device for unlocking the visor and chin bar simultaniously
•Improved aerodynamics, particularly in open face position
•New quieter design and improved inside ventilation
•
Homologated twice for open face and full face
•New comfortable padding with high-quality washable fabrics
