a little conundrum

Ok now here's a conundrum for you.

Our passports need renewing recently so got all the relevant forms/details etc (done over t'internet dead easy) but we both needed new photos.

So orf we jolly well go to Snappy Snaps in Chester.

Have mine done no problemo but why oh why do they make you look like a crim no matter how hard you try to look normal.

Maria up next the very nice Snappy Snap photoman asks her to move a stray hair or two that are slightly covering her eyebrows which she does.

She does ask why and the very nice Snappity Snip Snap photoman tells her that there cannot be anything obstructing the features of her face for a British passport.

Snappity snippity and the photos are done.

Now here's the conundrum which quite frankly I do not understand (which we did have a chat with the very nice Snappity Snapsnap photoman) If Maria or any other lady has to adjust a strand of hair or two for the photo how can a lady wearing a full Burqhua where it is only the eyes that you actually see be considered 'correct' for a British passport.

Smacks of the one rule for us and another for the others syndrome

Rant over.

You cant wear a burkha in a UK passport photo, though you may wear a religious head covering.

At passport control they can ask for the face covering to be removed in private, in front of female staff for identification. I have seen that they very often don't.

on a related note, when I was back and to our factory Shanghai I used to fly from Manchester to Heathrow then from Heathrow to Shanghai.

We never had our passports checked on the return hop from Heathrow as we were "airside" to Manchester, and once in Manchester because it was an internal flight we always just trundled through with no checks! So basically the last person to check our passports were the Chinese in Shanghai.

I can see that happening once, but on a regular basis? You can get your baggage all the way through, and it's segregated, but Imigration? No.

You either dreamed it, .......... or you were pissed

See! I knew you were pissed! [smilie=drinking.gif]

Strange one - I can't help looking at "processes" and "loopholes" and rarely see any recurring ones at airports/immigration.
