R1200st battery

Post by bikemad99 »

As anyone replaced an R1200ST battery? I have the original Exide ETX14-BS ,is this the only one to fit or are there alternatives?

M and P list a Li-on one at about £140, there's various gel ones on fleabay too. I put a Lucas one on my ST though, £37 and its still doing the job perfectly after 3 years.... :)

That sounds like good value for money. £37 plus at least a years warranty for a fresh battery. You can buy 3 of those for a BMW one.
Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)

started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

I think this was where I got mine -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LUCAS-YTX14-B ... 2a21fd8ce4

Exides are on at a similar price.

Looking at them the only difference from a BMW supplied Exide is there's no BMW logo or part number on it.... I originally ordered Exide, but they called to say they'd none in stock and would a Lucas be OK.

New battery fitted, everything seems to be working OK.Is there anything I should do after having the battery off for a few days? Got a Yuasa from the local bike shop,a bit more expensive but they had it in stock & I like to help local business if possible.
Thanks again for advise,

Thanks Phil, I wondered if it was your charger that knackered it. I might drop by Minehead if we get away in the motorhome.I am pleased to say Jackie has completed all her treatment & is about to start back to work,so we are finished nursing & taxi duties. The best summer for years & we have missed most of it.
