Hello,
It has to be my Laverda Jota. I bought it in 1996 after being made redundant in the days when you needed a van to take home your money. It was a 1980 Orange & Silver 180 series 1 with just 11,500 miles on it. I paid the princely sum of £4,000 for it. It was the motorcycle I had always wanted as a boy and now I finally had one.
In April 2012 I sold it - It had just under 18,000 miles on it and was totally original - Never restored so had the patina of old age - It made £12k which surprised even me!
However I seriously regret selling it now but I needed the cash!

The "A" denoted American version which was pretty much the same as the Euro "Z" model with a few subtle differences.
It was a kind of middle age realisation of an adolescent dream.
I paid three grand for it.
It was a nightmare to own.
Left for more than a couple of days, and it was a pig to start, and after a short time it was starting to turn into a money pit.
I sold it to a dealer about a year later for exactly what I paid, and I was glad to see the back of it.
My only regret is that now, I see mint one's like the one I had are going for three times what I paid.

my beloved Z1R. If I have a win on the lottery one of the first things I'm going to do is find a really nice Z1R for the fleet 
My first 1000cc bike, the first bike to take me to the IoM and traipsing around europe.
Got tempted by a new GPz750A2 in galaxy silver. On paper it was similar power, had an extra gear, was lighter, newer technology chassis etc etc.
Hated it, hated the fact the engine was a gutless rev box. The chassis was flawed and had a nasty tendency to want to tuck in. The brakes were good mind..... I ended up with a blister on my left big toe once from the constant gear changes, sure keep it on the boil and it had power but it was just horrible. (and this is from someone who loves the powerband on two strokes)

Was immense fun and every ride was a bit of an occasion.
Kawasaki really know how to make a nice airbox noise!

Try a slant engined K12/13 .. the airbox roar on full chat is "lurvely"conkerman wrote:My ZX-9R.

Never had a zx9 but I agree about the kawasaki airbox thang.

Probably the 1979 Ducati 900 but the 1984 Yamaha 350 YPVS would run it close...I love and miss the ring of a two stroke.

I will wait for the mirth.... but I loved my 400 superdream (I imagine I would hate it now)
I also think the old africa twin 750 I did 280,000 miles on was a stunning bike. It never broke down once and was good fun in the snow!
The old 350 three cyl kwaker was also fun (but i do wonder how the hell I am alive after the scrapes the 18year old me got into on it).

I want my Ducati 750SS to be a long term keeper. It's a really special bike. As is my 11S.
I don't have any past bikes I'd want to have back, though!
