airbox drain plugs

my recently acquired 1100s (1998 build) 50k kilometers, has a stain on the gearbox from a leaking airbox drain screw RH side , the stain resist removal by turps,petrol and meths. The liquid that comes out with the screw removed is mostly fuel followed by oil approx, a teaspoonful. I can understand the oil is coming from the breather but how is the fuel getting there, this occurs after a ride. I have not checked enough times to gauge exactly when this happens, the 3rd random check showed the same result. Any clues anyone?

The liquid is probably water. If fuel it would mix with the oil.

Anyhow, how about a little test in a small glass?

Was not aware the airbox had drain "screws"? Mine has rubber caps retained by spring hose clips. Common to get oil dumped in there and condensate. Water has more density than oil so it probably is water not fuel.
