New Helmet problem

Just bought a Shark Evo Line 3 Lid.
Always liked them.
Thing is, at speeds over 50mph, I'm getting an annoying stream of air getting in that goes straight onto my eye's.
I can't figure it out.
Visor is shut tight and the air vent is closed.
The only thing I can compare it too is someone pointing a hair drier in your eye's as you're riding along.
It starts at about 50mph, and by 70mph it's unbearable.
I took it back to the dealer today, who are going to send it back to Shark for assessment.
The thing is, surely that means someone is going to wear it out on the road to see what's going on, which I don't like.
I hate the thought of someone else wearing my lid.
When I bought it I insisted on an unopened boxed one from the storeroom that hadn't been on display.
I'm a bit anal like that.
Anyway, not impressed Mr. Shark.
Usually when I buy a new helmet I cut off the straps of the old one, and rip out the lining before binning it.
Thank God I didn't this time.

Just been through this on another forum it turned out that the problem was when it was worn as an open face
This is a fact of life with an open face I'm afraid

It's happening to me when I'm wearing it in full face configuration, visor tight down and vents closed.

this is a new EU law, they couldnt restrict the bhp on bikes so they forced the helmet manufactors to create an air flow, it is to stop you speeding.

You are not closing it properly, there is a nack to it, it closes with a definite click, read your instructions again. My wife had this the first time she used it riding to Spain last year. She googled the problem (when we got there) and got a forum where she discovered what she was not doing right. Shark do not make helmets that do not work. It is a good Helmet.

Hate Shark lids  Stupidly bought a Race R because I liked the colour last year, wore it twice and chucked it in the back of the wardrobe with all the gear I bought, don't use and hide from Hubby :?
Its feels flimsy, linings poorly attached, very noisy which I think is due to the shape , if I lower my head 3" its better. The stick on vents on the top and side as so sharp they catch everything and unstick. The magnet on the tail of the fastening strap is crap and the tail comes detached and bangs about, and oh yes the anti mist visor mists. Never again, in the meantime its back to my tried and trusted Arai.

Yes, this is probably the case, I had exactly the same thing on my Arai ( different manufacturer I know but same principle) one last `click` makes all the difference..

Surely this should be moved to the "For Sale" section - and you're a moderator

Oh dear, this is bad news. I'm in the market for a new 'lid' and really like the look of the 'Shark Evo Line 3'. I particularly like the way it looks when opened and the chin bar seems to blend in with the rear of it. Of course I do realize it's not about 'looks' but all about 'fit' and comfort but is nice to have a hat you like the look of. Having just bought a SATNAV device I'm also considering a VIPER RS-V131 BLUETOOTH 4 FLIPFRONT ( ebay item 290857768350 ). Sadly, budget constraints preclude the likes of a Schuberth I'm afraid. I always approach the buying of a new helmet with a heavy heart 'cos it's so difficult to get it right. I think I'll wait 'till the bike show at the end of the year and then run around the NEC trying everything on.

That was the first thing I thought of, but nope, the chin bar is clicking into place when closed.
I suspect a faulty visor that is not sealing properly, maybe as a result of being mis shapen
Nothing visible to the naked eye but it's the only thing I can think of.
Bit like a car window being fracionally open.
You think, where's that draft coming from, and ten realise even though the window appears shut, it's a couple of mm open,
Anyway had a word with the shop today, who will contact Shark tomorrow and order a new visor.
I think that'll sort it.

Just to balance this, in every other way the evoline 3 is a superb lid.
I think I'm just experiencing a minor gripe.
I don't think you should make a decision in the context of one incident.

A friend of mine has one and has no issues,

Anyway thanks for all the input.

Have you tried swapping visors?

Also, try placing your hand under your chin whilst riding along, it may be an airflow issue unique to you/your riding position/your screen. I know that my previously perfect Shoei XR1000 was great on my 11S, but once I upgraded to my 12S it was very breezy and much noisier, I now have a Shoei XR1100 which is better, and better again since I fitted an MRA vario screen, so much so that I can fine tune it depending on whether I'm on fast roads, motorways or a and b road twisties. I have also ridden my brothers bike ( Aprillia Falco) and everything is different again.
There really are so many variables!

This is true.
Today, I stuck strips of insulating tape across the top and bottom edge of the visor, and it was fine.
Dealer doesn't have a spare visor in stock and have ordered one for me.

Nick, I have a Schuberth C3 as my get to work helmet. Rode back from work without earplugs (30 mile) and it was $hite - so bloody noisy. My not go to work helmet (Shoei XR1100) is so much quieter. While I realise it isn't a flip I would never buy a Shuberth but I got this cheap from a mate who I know only wore it 3 times. I'm off to NEC again this year - letus know when you going and maybe meet up for a natter
