Notchy neutral

Recently have noticed a new tick in the S.

When stationary in neutral it feels like something catches in the gearbox causing the bike to lurch. There is no loud nasty mechanical noise (yet) It managed it the other day after I started it up to dry it after a wash - thought it would throw itself off the side stand

Seems to happen intermittently on a hot or cold engine. The clutch is fine, gearbox seems as rough as it ever was and I'm not riding any different, plenty of oil in it.

Bike has 26k and a FBMWSH.

Any ideas - or is it just the cold?

and will it be expensive - its out of warranty....

Cheers,

Ade.

Sure it wasnt misfiring after having a wash. This will cause it to lurch like a bastard, epecially with a cold engine too.

Could be a misfire causing the lurch - it does it at traffic lights as well, and in the dry.

Check plug leads as the the insulation can break down.Or give everything a good hosing with wd40.

ran nice as pie on today's kingston run... not a cough or splutter once it had warmed up.

The low speed running cable needs a tweak and I suspect the throttle bodies need to be balanced as its a bit rough at tickover until warm - the motronic was reset as per the manual when I changed the battery.

Suspect it was sulking as I hadn't cleaned it for weeks - resembled the inside of the peugeot's wheel arch :D

Cheers for the replies.
