So, in my quest for a low mileage classic, here is one that spent 33 years as an office decoration and the claim is - it has never been started.

A bit rich for my taste at 10k starting price. And what happened between 2008 (1975 + 33) and now (or 1975 & 1980)?

Staying at my mates house in Scotland last weekend and he has a pile of classic bike magazines, collected over years. I picked one up at random, and there was an article about this very bike. Apparently, it was the last one delivered to the dealership in 1975 and they just decided to keep it as a display / talking point.

If my memory serves me correctly (and it usually doesn't) there was a dealer in SE London called Carl Rosner(?) who back in the day was a Triumph/Norton dealer. In their office mounted on the wall were a Norton Commando and a Triumph Trident (Might have been a Bonneville?) that were reputedly the last off the line and had been bought as office décor - Never registered or started. Best a pair of candlesticks?

However never started? Would they not have been started in the Factory or didn't they bother with such niceties then?

Mind you it is still on my list of bikes as is a BSA Rocket 3

That's the one! I remember many a pilgrimage there with my mate to get bits for his troublesome Norton

The classic bike article was about the Triumph and Comando (it said it was the last one to be made) being sold after 35 years in the showroom.

I'm convinced the Triumph on eBay is the same one a couple of years on - same colour, model and description.

Well if I won the lotto , I'd buy it like a shot, absolutely gorgeous bike. Always loved the T160, they are pretty rare and getting seriously expensive.
10k for that is probably a fair valuation.Now I wonder if 10kfell down the back of my sofa.

I wouldn't think 10k was outlandish given the price of classic bikes. I only wish I had the dosh.

There's a bloke who founded a BMW dealership in SA (Pretoria, I think) who reckoned he'd got a K1 Ultra (Yellow. last of the K1s. Built from the parts bins) in his garage at home. He said he bought it from the importers, (still in it's crate) when he started his company and was looking for stock. Apparently he's never started it either. If I ever get down there again I'll go out of my way to take a peek at that.

Love it - and the music was perfect too!! I've never owned a Guzzi but a Mk1 Le Mans was the first big bike I rode - it had Pirrelli Phantoms on which were good for about 1000 miles but stuck to the road like faeces to a bed sheet (don't want to be barred!! ) then test rode a V50 and loved that too

Aah the T3 brought back memories, I bought the same model in 78 in a lovely shade of olive green. I would appreciate the bike even more now I suspect. I recall the linked Brembo brakes which at the time were pretty damned good at the time.
