Gear linkage

Post by SAS Tom »

Now I have 2 1100's I'm going to put all the best bits on one bike. One bike has some rear sets I don't want so I'm looking to take them off and swap them over however I can't work out how to detach the gear linkage from the lever so wondered if anyone can help?

I know there are 2 metal link things but I can't seem to split the ball joints.

There's a circlip on each. Look carefully and you'll see you can spin it round and pull it out (then spend 5 minutes hunting it on the garage floor). Then you can pop the ball joints apart and enjoy the satisfying noise.

Pull harder  Try a screwdriver as leverage.

Much easier once I removed the gear lever, just popped off!
