Hi everyone

I'm Darren from Shropshire.

My daily commuter is GS1200 in sparkly Tango Orange - not really one for the conventional :D

Signed up here to get some expert advice on buying an S, probably a R1100 as my budget is probably £3-4k.

Looking some something that is neat, tidy, lowish milage that I can add a little bling and a decent exhaust. Love the Boxer Cup colour ways but might need to save a few more pennies to go down that route.

Are there any sticky threads that I should read and what to look out for?

Cheers

Dazman

Welcome , no sticky threads but most of the popular stuff is in this thread , anything else just ask.

Some of the later 11 s have servo brakes which imo are best to avoid and something that came up recently and occasionally over the years is/are the subframe mounting lugs. Poor design easily damaged if dropped / overloaded.

Welcome.

If you can stretch to the top of your budget, £4k, you are getting into 1200s territory.

Faster, lighter and always draws a crowd. If you don't take a pillion, I would go for the 12.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Have been scouring the sale section, just missed a nice mandarin R1100.

I'm intending to commute on it in the summer but the Mrs will probably want to go pillion on it at the weekends.

Off to have a look at a couple locally at the weekend as I've never actually seen one in the flesh let alone sat on one!
