Drain Holes in a Sump Guard (1150GS) Query

Post by JamesL »

Hi all,

Has anyone successfully drilled drainage holes in a GS sump guard, if so roughly how many and where? Before I offer up Mr Dewalt I thought I'd ask around in case there are any best / worst spots...

I had a minimal off a few weeks back - likely diesel on a Banbury roundabout & lost the rear at 15!mph  . Massive blow to the ego, but the GS came off pretty well, just front RH indicator stem broken and a butch scrape in the rocker cover, now repainted and incidentally those magnesium covers are basically made of cheese, my flapper wheel sanded it smooth in about 2 minutes...

Anyway, I thought I'd refit the BM engine protectors for the winter (the bike's stripped down for winterising anyway); and hence the sump guard likely has to go back on. I'll strip it off in the spring, but in the meantime I'd like to avoid it holding a puddle of brine for 4 months!

Cheers,

James
