Bought a pair of these for my R1100s the other week as the left fork started to seep oil.

I bought these mainly because the cost of a pair amounts to one BMW fork seal.

Anyway, fitted it yesterday without too much fuss, but it's nagging me that I don't know 100% that I've put them in the right way up. They look slightly different to the standard ones, these have one side that is flat, with marking, the other side has the springy thing.





Now I assumed that the side with the springy bit faces down the fork, so when you tap the seal into place to will be tapping on the flatter side (the one with the markings), made sense to me.

Can someone put my mind at rest & confirm this?

Also, does anyone know the torque settings for the handlebar bolt (top of the fork) & the top folk/yolk bolt?

Off to France later this week & I just want piece of mind before I set off.

The spring side, as you identify- goes on the oil-side.

Tap in with something close in outer diameter to the outer diameter of the seal (less obviously)

+1 on seals the right way up, and 22NM for the fork bridge, 21NM for the top fork/handlebar

So I've done the seals right....but it looks like i may have tightened those bolts way too much.

Ah well.

21 & 22 doesn't seem like much does it? My hand tightening is normally tighter than that
