On my newly purchased R1100s of the finest 98 vintage, the clock doesn't work.
Now considering my last bike had no clock and to be honest the entire clock pod only worked when it felt like it and it never bothered me (it was a trail bike though) I find having a clock fitted but inoperative slightly annoying
So..... is this a common fault? theres nothing on the display at all, haven't started looking for wiring etc yet but I'm assuming it will only have a 12v live and earth? If its the clock itslef can this be changed or is it the whole clock pod (not that it will get changed!)
Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you've been up to!

When mine went it was the wiring rubbing through on the head fairing frame thingy. It WAS routed very badly. Took the horn out with it. cost me £40 for a rewire and a proper fix.
Cheers for that, I shall venture into the garage tonight and begin by tooting my horn!!
Thats after I've washed my trials bike and kit from last nights entertainment and supposing the sun isn't shining still and I decide to go for a ride instead
Horn doesn't work so I'm assuming the fuse but how the hell do you get into the fuse box? I can undo the lid but no way will it lift enough to remove the fuse, is it a fairing off ob to rectify? Also they don't look like normal fuses in there, do I need special fuses?

Nooby questions I know - sorry
Yep it's behind the left hand side of the fairing, I'd love to meet the idiot who designed that (just to punch him ) ... I mean can you imagine the total PITA of a headlight fuse popping on say the middle of the Denbigh Moors on a rainy night?
I think they're just normal spade fuses

You can just manage to remove the fuse box with the plastics on
Grip the fuse box and give it a turn (can't remember which way) it will then lift away from the mount and you can get to the fuses easy enough
Putting it back is a bitch but can be done
I rewired mine when it failed it's mot for the horn not working it was only getting six volts after i did the job the clock started working properly for the first time since i have had the bike
Now the clock works when it wants again

take the fairing off and check the wiring if the fuse doesn't sort it. You should have a small box of spare fuses in there on the left side of the fairing - and possibly some in the onboard toolkit - if that isn't it, then its the wiring.
