Hi All.

Sorry to have posted here but the suspension 'sticky' posts are now a few years old - so I'm wondering if anyone has more recent upgrade experiences - good or bad - to guide me with an upgrade to my 'S'.

I've been looking more closely at Nitron and Hagon, in lieu of Ohlins, WP, and Wilbers. (Recently saw that Nitron is supplying to Caterham (or Westfield?)).

The reality has finally dawned that I present no threat to Lorenzo (not even on a really good day ... harrrr so I need look only at the sport/touring end of the range.

Nitron appears not to offer a front unit.

I have a Hagon front and Nitron rear nothing fancy just the basic models

Honestly i don't think i could have spent the money better

Quite a few on here have seen my bike and will vouch for the fact that there are no chicken strips on the back and the front is past the edges of the tyre

My tyre choice is conti road attacks

Shoc settings front exactly as it came the rear is up a couple of clicks on damping and a couple of turns on preload both Hagon and Nitron shocs are made to suit your weight Ann doesn't often get on the back but when she does i don't need to change any settings

Got wilbers on mine and from what I gather they are probably mid range. Had it set up properly and it has been very good. Unfortunately I can't compare it to standard suspension as I've never ridden one with standard suspension.

Got the front wrong should have said the front's past the tread pattern

Hi,

I put Hyperpro front & back shocks on (with manual pre load) 75,000 miles ago.

The fronts just gone for a service due to an oil leak. Been very pleased with their performance.

The come set to your weight / riding style

I was luck enough to get a set of Ohlins off the site several years ago and they transformed the way the bike handles.

I put Wilbers on the GSA last year and they are also very good and were a tad cheaper.

I think it's a case of you get what you pay for. Good luck.

To paraphrase someone from another forum when this question came up - people with Ohlins will say get Ohlins, people with Wilburs will say get Wilburs, etc.

I'd say go for the best you can afford and you'll be happy. I went with an Ohlins rear because I happened upon a second hand one at a good price and I'd already ridden an S with full Ohlins and felt the difference.

Remember that the more settings you have the greater the chance of cocking thing's up i went for the basic shocs made for my weight in riding gear

got Hyperpro's on mine and they are better than the standard I had on the last bike - after a rebuild they were anyway. I took the time to have mine setup and rebuilt by Craig at reactive in york and he did an excellent job of it. I believe, from what he was saying at the time, the Hyperpro is basically a Wilbers but made in Holland rather than Germany. Anyway, it does the job and is priced about the same, 300ish for front 500ish for rear.

Stuck a hyperpro on the rear of mine 2 months ago and haven`t looked back its great. I have no probs with front standard
