This could be interesting. I have never seen anything worthy of replacing my 'S' with. This could be it if they don't mess up the styling.

Shame its got the old engine, but packaging rads would be a 'mare for a cafe racer.

the old engine is the whole point, it's to get rid of the remaining old stock

Thats the 08 bike in the pics. I am presuming when we actually get to see it, it will have the DOHC engine from the current air cooled bikes.

yebbut in the spy shots it's the old engine too judging by the down pipes?

When I stated old engine, I meant the oil cooled number rather than the water cooled engine. A water cooled engine would be a sod to package in a cafe racer and not look crap.
Depending on sales you may see a few 'niche' models using the old stock motors up. You are bang on Mr Parry.

I guess we are talking at cross purposes. The spy pics show the current air cooled motor, with vertical spark plug cover, whereas the pictures of the 08 concept have the old engine with the horizontal spark plug cover.
I presume the air cooled and water cooled engines will run in parallel for a while yet.

Bars are completely wrong for a cafe racer.
From the (poor) photo that looks like a Rockster.

Nah. Trouble is, when factories try to do "custom" bikes......well, they aren't, 'cos they make 1000s of them.
And by the time they've bolted on all the junk to get the model through approvals in all countries, the poor thing is lumbered with all sorts of stuff that nobody would think of bolting onto a bike they're building for themselves.
Nice try, no cigar.

Recent boxers seem to have very delicate looking discs, wheels and the method of attaching disc to wheel. I made the assumption (wrongly?) that this was done to mitigate the supposed extra unsprung weight attributed to the Telelever system.
So, if the 9t has the same disc/wheel design but is equipped with the latest type of usd telescopic forks and radial calipers, does that mean it will have outstanding front end unsprung weight qualities?
Just a thought.
