First sunny sunday

Post by Gromit »

Had a pleasant bimble out to Grantham yesterday then onto Willingham Woods to do the 'Lincs Loop' (which tends to vary depending on mood/weather). Spent this morning stripping the rear suspension bushes out of the Blackbird and re-greasing everything so my back end is now nice and supple.

Once all was bolted back together, I took the bike out for a brief whizz up to Willingham Woods again this afternoon but was saddened to see that the 'first sunny sunday' has had the local loons lobbing their prized machinery at the local countryside.

2 roads were closed by 4 o'clock this afternoon: One of them, the Mkt Rasen to Wragby road was closed at Lissington. Yesterday afternoon someone on a Speed Triple nearly had me off whilst riding on my side of the road on a (for them) blind right-hand corner. He was in a group of 4 riders who I later saw at Willingham Woods. Thought of speaking to him but in the end thought better of it.

I really hope this isn't a sign of the summer to come. One reason why I now much prefer riding out during the week if possible. :(

Richard, I get a full weekend off every 3 months and I have to agree to getting out throught the week. As soon as the sunny weather is here and I'm at work, I see all the loons at the weekend coming at me on the wrong side of the road - I'm in a 40 tonne artic - they're going to come second but it still frightens the $hite out of me

A lot more bikes out here also , with the temperature now just into double figures.
It really must be summer though because I saw a guy on a cruiser in jeans and T shirt...

Been out today for a wee blast. Fantastic day although a bit gusty. Lots of bikers. I just feel that road riding is becoming a bit pointless unless I take the missus out with me or we go touring or I'm on the GS exploring minor roads. The state of the roads and the driving skills of my fellow road users leave much to be desired. I'm starting to prefer off the road activities but I miss a tool in the garage. I need an enduro bike.

I was out in the Peaks today. I was really supprised with the amount of bikes about. It was 19degrees at 2 ish, so think everyone was capitalising on the sun!

The roads (which I've been riding all winter) are still very gritty and slippery though, and I saw quite a few riders acting like the roads where race tracks. Gota be careful on that grit!

Unfortunately thats how it is , Suns out and so are the weekend warriors. They have not ridden since the sun went in last Sept but they are riding gods afterall so its 100% all the way.

I stayed home!!!

See some of you in Wales next weekend.

It's the same every year, I try to avoid riding during the day on good roads at the weekend because all that happens is I get frustrated with the other bikes and traffic.

Usually in summer I will wait until about 6/7pm before I go out when everyone else has gone home.

Sry to interject Dave,

It was the South West bash, iirc it was 11.37 on the way to Launceston and it lasted for 17.35 seconds

Not that I'm counting

Be fair Phil, It lasted slightly longer than that :D If I recall correctly it stayed dry all weekend.
