I Bloody hate rim tape.

Although LED tape with LED's in would look cool to the 7 year old in us all.

Hope it's a hi-viz one ;)

I'll hold my hand up and say that for the last few years - since I was doing the Lincs/London commute 2-3 times a week - I've worn a plain white lid, and had a hi-viz waistcoat over my biking jacket. I've also gone to not turning the bike's headlight on.

Since doing this I've had less people pull out in front of me/cut me up than any time in over 30 years' riding.

Not a fashion faux-pas as such, but I cannot understand the latest 'trend' for some motorcyclists to ride with their headlight on main beam...

1. It's highly dangerous to other road users
2. It actually makes them less visible as it masks all speed/positioning/distance clues.
3. It's bloody annoying.
4. It may even be illegal - Ali (Yogi) would be able to clear this up for us though.

hang on :) ..... the sunglasses with a clear visor thing, to me it's much more preferable to a dark visor.

With a dark visor you have to carry a clear one with you if you're going to be riding in the evening, which is a PITA.

Nope sunglasses every time, easily stowed when it goes dark, offers bug protection when the visors open when travelling slower.

My system 6 has that flip down sun visor thing, now as useful as that is they really do look a bit daft IMHO

Obviously written by someone who rides with a dark visor during summer daylight hours only and not on sunny winter days when the sun's low and darkness is approaching, note there's no mention of people dressed up in full race rep gear with sponsor ads all over surely that makes far less "sense" on the road? ..... <looks at belly pan of BCR .... ooo there's a flaw in my argument ;) >

I couldn't agree more. Whilst driving a car I've often registered my displeasure by 'flickin the bird' at 'em. :)

And with regard to legality, what applies to the use of spot/poor weather lights must surely apply to the use of the 'main beam'. :-

Guide Driving in adverse weather conditions (226 to 237)

You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.
Law RVLR regs 25 & 27

One of the great things about getting old,you ride & wear what you want ,without giving a shit what other folks say or think. If you have ridden on our wonderful roads for over 50yrs & lived to tell the tale, you are doing something right.Try pleasing yourself not trying to impress other people. This does not apply to Gwen....

I totally agree, and as I need to wear glasses, my prescription sunglasses are a necessity. I also have a high viz jacket, but I do draw the line at rim tape :D
