Hi,
I've just been directed to this post as I have the same problem.
I'm going to try a home made tool to re tighten the riv nuts in the frame, if it dosen't work what type of rivnuts do I need as there are a lot of different types?

Jon

I bought some new bolts and put an 8mm tap through to clean the threads, all seems fine now.
Next problem is that I'm trying to get the induct pipe off to change the air filter and the bolt is just going round in the frame.
I've just cut the head off with the Dremel but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they did?
Yeah - I've also got one of those, but fortunately I was able to undo it first, but can't tighten it now.
For me - doesn't matter as IMHO two screws are an engineering overkill in the circumstances - and I'm completely happy with the remaining one.
Advice: one will do and don't stress abt the other.

Real torque curves don't have a first derivative. :-^)
Hi I solved the problem after nuch head scratching.
I failed to drill the rivnuts out
I used a punch to punch the rivnut back into the frame
Despite numerous attempts I couldn't remove the old rivnuts without drilling another hole or enlarging the exisiting one which I was to scared to do so I just left them in there.
I ordered 3x types of rivnuts from ebay large head small head and countersunk, the small heald ones fitted the hole and look just like the originals, a friend had the right tool so was able to fix them but you can make one easily.
I thought about using some expanding foam to stop the old nut rattling in the frame but didn't bother in the end.
