Honda RC174 6 Cyl 297cc replica fired up

The Local Honda distributor brought this over for the Dublin bike show this weekend .
This morning before the bike show they had it on display at their retail showroom and at midday it was fired up.
I can only imagine what the original sounded like to onlookers at full chat when it first turned up at race tracks in the 60's.

I think you're find that the guy revving it up in your post built x number of them and he was also at Excell bike show in London shown here and yes he did start it.
The Honda was on the stand next to "OLD BILL" shown below which sold for £292.000

Yep, with his boots worn through at the toes. The man was a genius. I had the good fortune to be on the Island for the 78 TT and Mikes glorious comeback. My prized possession being his autobiography signed by the great man "TT 78".

The other great sounds that i remember of that time were Phill Read on the M.V. and the howl of Barry Sheen's RG500 edit or was it a TR500 i think it was a TR the rg came along later

George Beale , I think he has built 7 so far and # 8 will be the final one.

I was there for that too! I still have the stickers from mcn "mike the bike" and a steam packet co/ mcn tank pumped out sticker (unused) from the sailing. One of my prized possessions ( sad, I know) but such sweet memories

I had similar stickers on a top box...wish I kept it.
Remember queuing in a ramshackle old warehouse for someone to pump out your petrol. Then cramming on to a Steam Packet old tub...those were the days.

Cripes yes, me too. I rode my Jeff Monty '65 Thruxton Bonnie there in the '66 Diamond Jubilee year. I'll never forget seeing a poor bloke, boarding at Liverpool, ride his immaculate Rocket-Gold Star up the ramp and, when he got to the top, the (wet!) deck was listing about 10 degrees away from him. With the momentum he'd got from having to climb the steep ramp he just 'flew' straight across the deck into the opposite hand-rail and completely wrecked his bike.
