Give tank mount system

Post by bikesnbones »

Was at a dealers today who stocks the Givi tank ring mount.
I know it can be used on the R1200S because I've heard mention of it here.
It's not listed in the Givi application list though.
So anyway me and the salesman were trying to figure it out.
With the tank filler and surround completely removed, the "ring" part fits perfectly, but of course the tank cap and surround have to be re-fitted and to do that you have to take the hinged cap off.
We just couldn't figure this out.
On the instructions there it says there should be a hors shoe shaped bracket secured by 2 screws that hold the hinge in place, but these are not there.
We gave up trying to figure it out
Any ideas.

I've just fitted the very same, I've got the XS307 tank lock bag with the BF07 tank ring, on the Givi web site it states to fit a 08 GS, I checked the part numbers on AScycles fiche to determine it would fit (same part no with 12s)
Took a leap of faith and ordered it, very nice bit of kit especially as it was £104 delivered.
My only very minor concern is the placement of the tank bag, it's able to be moved through 5 for/aft locations, I've set it on its furthest forward and it's slightly rearward, (hope that makes sence) to where I'd ideally like it to be, but it's not obtrusive.

Can post piccies if required

Interesting because the part the salesman reckoned would fit was BF06.
It did fit perfectly, into the recess with the surround removed, but how did you remove the hinged cap so it fitted under the ring.

You'd need the correct part to start with lol

Once the original ring and filler are removed, there are 2 small clips on the underside of the ring, very gently pull apart and the cover comes apart, then unscrew the 4 capture screws to remove the pin, replace with the supplied pin do up the 4 screws and one fit to the Givi ring, fit the suppled u shaped holder and secure with the 2 supplied screws, refit into petrol tank, job done quite simple after a bit of head scratching and a nice cup of T.
