Having seen what happens to that very expensive front fender when you forget to remove a disc-lock and then roll the bike backwards,

I made a couple (L&R) of these guards out a piece of stainless-steel sheet and stuck a little BMW badge on 'em. Weeeeell, I like 'em anyway. :) FIRE AWAAAAAY!

Lol, you want to knock me up a stainless belly pan that will fit with a centre stand. I ask as you seem to like making stuff, and my making skills are non existent. I could only pay for the cost of the steel, but it could keep you amused for a bit :D

Sorry Nookie mate. I'd like to try it but I'm right in the middle of enlarging a fuel tank at the mo and it's not going too well.

That's some nice work.............but..........why don't you just put the disc lock on the rear disc??

Good question. Answer:- That's the driven wheel. Some years ago on a day-trip to Bath I waited to ride off behind a mate on our GPz900s. His girlfriend climbed aboard. He backed up a little ways, pointed his bike up the street, opened her up (we were on a slight incline) and let in the clutch. Instantly, there was a bang like a pistol shot as he totaled a very expensive lock and seriously disfigured his rear brake caliper. I rest my case.

El-nicko I'm not knocking your manufacturing skills or thought process in making these but surely a disc lock reminder would look better on your bike??

Sorry Nick. But I Sooooo agree with this. I have fucked a front fender with a disk lock, and scratched my back wheel in Germany when my passenger (wife 2...... (will be forever)) put the lock on without telling me .......... I have repaired all damage so far.

The solution IS the yellow string.

At the end of the day my objective is to maintain my R1100S looking like it was when it arrived so I am not enthusiastic about this mod.

But I really don't want to upset fellow Boxertrixsters ......

You could very well be right mate but it's more expense is'nt it and I only have a state pension to live on. Plus, it's bulky and when not in use you need somewhere to stow it. I've an idea (at the gestation stage at the moment and specificly for my r1100s) for a wheel lock that simply consists of a piece 0.50"(aprox) round aluminium bar about a foot long, bulbouse on one end (so it won't pass straight through) and a combination lock on the other, that fits between the two front calipers and through the wheel spokes. If you look at the front wheel from the side you'll see that there's an aperture straight through between and under the calipers on a radial 'line' between them and the spindle. This will (if I can source a suitible combination lock) have the advantage of being able(when not in use) to be stowed down inside a riding boot after the manner of a scotymans skean dhu.
